The 2007 First Brigade Reunion

"The First Brigade" (L to R): Nathanael Cordz, Tim Horn, Caleb Hayden, Peter Bradrick, and myself

This past weekend the members of the 2003 Vision Forum Intern Class came together for our annual meeting and fellowship. It was a time of edification as we fellowshipped at the home of Nathanael Cordz in Missouri. Jokes were told. Memories were relived. But more importantly, we shared with each other what the Lord had been teaching us and where He was leading us. We prayed together for one another. We worshiped the Lord together. We challenged one another to stand fast for the Kingdom of God.

We spoke in particular about the need for each of us to be building up three kinds of capital: (1) spiritual capital; (2) intellectual capital; and (3) material capital. Each of these elements are necessary for Christian young men who are planning to be witnesses, make disciples, and take dominion over the earth as the Lord has commanded. We also spoke about the specific virtues needful in the helpmeets we are praying for before the Lord (of course, Peter spoke about the virtues he had observed in Kelly that led him to marry her). Life is a spiritual battle with cultural implications and we cannot be complacent or pursue a life of comfort and ease.

Caleb Hayden also included a description of the weekend with the things he learned on his blog. There you'll find a variety of shots from our interaction that I was not able to capture in photograph.

Nathanael Cordz' brother-in-law Ethan allowed us to spend Saturday at his home. The chalk board greeted us there.

Two-fold Cordz: Nathanael with his Patriarchal Father along with his little niece.

Sharing Scriptures and testimonies as we drive back to the Cordz's family house on Saturday evening

We gathered together to sing hymns of the faith as Caleb played the piano.

Please explain your use of "patriarchal father." I know what both of those words mean, but what does the phrase mean? I notice that Hayden uses it, as well.

Thanks.

Dear anonymous -

That's is a very good question. Lord willing, I will devote an up-coming post to that subject where I hope to answer your question. Please stay tuned.
